Jan Blachowicz, Rafael Dos Anjos, Kevin Lee, Anthony Pettis React as Michael Chiesa Dominates Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night on Fight Island

The second of three events on Fight Island saw an interesting clash between two of the best at welterweight. Michael Chiesa has looked amazing since his move up to middleweight. He took on arguably his toughest test to date in his new division in Neil Magny. ‘Haitian Sensation’ has the second-most wins in the division behind Georges St-Pierre

Chiesa and Magny are ranked 8th and 9th respectively in the welterweight division. Both men are on a 3-fight win streak. A win for either fighter would have bolstered their claim to the 170-pound strap. However, it was ‘Maverick‘ who put on a clinical display and secured his 4th straight win in his new weight class

Michael Chiesa moves to 4-0 at welterweight 

Journalist Dan Tom took to Twitter to appreciate a facet of ‘Maverick’s’ game.

Scott Fontana tweeted in appreciation of a good round for ‘Maverick’.

Marc Raimondi tweeted to praise Chiesa’s grappling skills against Magny.

The Thugjistu Master took to Twitter to comment on the closely fought fight between Chiesa and Magny.

James Diags took to Twitter to appreciate the dominant display put on by Michael Chiesa.

 

The fight between the two men was a grappling delight. Former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos felt the same way.

Kevin Lee, who had an altercation with Michael Chiesa at a press conference a few years ago, took to Twitter to appreciate his fellow UFC athlete.

Michael Chiesa’s performance got a stamp of approval from the Polish champion Jan Blachowicz as well.

Former champion Anthony Pettis tweeted in awe of ‘Maverick’s’ performance.

Ever since his move to welterweight, Chiesa has been a completely different fighter. In his most important fight to date at 170-pounds, Chiesa put on a clinical display.

He dominated the grappling and wrestling exchanges from the very first round of the fight and secured a unanimous decision win over a tough adversary in Neil Magny.

‘Maverick’ was able to secure 4 of his 6 attempted takedowns and controlled the fight for the most part. In his post-fight interview, he called out Colby Covington for his next fight.
