Alexander Hernandez vs Chris Gruetzemacher promises to be an exciting lightweight clash on the card. The pair will fight on the featured bout of the preliminary card for UFC Fight Night: Hall vs Silva.

Gruetzemacher and Hernandez are both unranked in the UFC’s lightweight division of the UFC. However, the fight serves as a great opportunity for both men to climb up in the rankings and secure a fight against a top 10 opponent, eventually.

Alexander Hernandez vs Chris Gruetzemacher set to be a lightweight delight 

Going into the fight against Gruetzemacher, Hernandez has secured five wins via decision and four via T/KO. ‘The Great’ will have sizeable reach advantage of four inches over ‘Grtiz’. He is comfortable on his feet and deals considerable damage standing up. 

‘The Great’ landed 3.17 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy of 38%. He has a below-par significant strike defense of 52% which means that he absorbed a concerning 3.87 significant strikes per minute in his UFC career.

Hernandez uses wrestling effectively as well and averages 2.15 takedowns per 15 minutes. Getting him to the ground will be difficult as he boasts a 57% takedown defense.

‘Gritz’ on the other hand, landed a devastating 7.12 significant strikes per minute which is reflected by the fact that he has secured 50% of his wins via T/KO. Chris is also prone to absorbing punishment as he has a significant strikes defense of 56%. Which translates to 5.09 significant strikes absorbed per minute. 

Getting ‘Gritz’ to the ground will be difficult as he takedown defense rate of 62%. Gruetzemacher is most comfortable on his feet and will be hoping to keep it on the feet to secure a win. 

‘The Great’ burst onto the scene in the UFC in March 2018. He secured two impressive wins in quick succession. This led to a fight against Donald Cerrone, where Hernandez suffered his first loss in the UFC. He is currently 3-2 in the promotion and will be looking to bounce back with a win, following a loss against Drew Dober in his last fight.

Gruetzemacher made his debut in the promotion in 2015 with a win over Abner Lloveras. Since then he is split in wins and losses in the UFC with two each. His most recent fight was a TKO win over Joe Lauzon in April 2018.

Despite his two-year absence from the sport, he should be able to secure a good comeback win over a tough adversary in Alexander Hernandez.
