Brendan Allen vs Ian Heinisch would have been a middleweight delight. However, the coronavirus has once again thrown a wrench in plans and forced the UFC to cancel yet another fight on short notice.

The UFC was one of the first if not the first sport to return to live-action. This has meant a new set of challenges. Ever since the UFC has started to put on fights in May, there have been a number of cancellations due to COVID-19. The organization has put in place the best safety standards and, therefore, could detect a positive case and cancel the fight before any further harm was done.

Brendan Allen vs Ian Heinisch was set to be an exciting middleweight bout

All In’ took to Twitter a few hours ago to share some unfortunate news with his fans. He tweeted, “NO FIGHT TONIGHT! Opponent tested positive for covid so working on getting something else for next year. Thanks to everyone who helped me for this one, super bummed right now and just want to get home”

This is not the first time that the virus has affected one of ‘The Hurricane’s’ flights. Ahead of his fight against Gerald Meerschaert, one of his cornermen tested positive, which meant he had to be withdrawn. However, it was later revealed that the first test was a false negative, and the UFC allowed Heinisch to fight.

‘The Hurricane’ is a product of Dana White’s Contender Series similar to his opponent. Ian made his debut in the UFC in July 2018. Since then he has a record of 4-2. His most recent outing was in June when he knocked out Meerschaert in the first round.

Allen on the other hand made his debut in the organization in July 2019. He’s 4-0 in the UFC and riding a seven-fight win streak. A fight against a worthy adversary in Heinisch would have been a great opportunity for both men to secure a ranking in the division.

‘All In’ revealed in he will be looking to fight next year. However, a lot of fights have been called off at the last minute due to the virus. Therefore, it won’t be a surprise to see Allen make a quick turnaround and possibly fight this year itself.
