The main event at UFC Vegas 18 saw Alexander Volkov take on a dangerous opponent in Alistair Overeem. Leading up to the fight, there was a lot of talk regarding how many more fights Overeem had left in him. After his loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik, ‘The Demolition Man’ bounced back with two impressive stoppage wins.

During the buildup to the fight, he had stated that this would be his last chance to fight for a UFC title as he does not see himself fighting a lot longer. Overeem is a pioneer of the sport and has been a champion in almost every organization that he has been a part of. However, UFC gold has always eluded him.

It was understood that if he could get past Volkov, he would fight for the title in his next bout. However, the fairy tale ending was bought to an abrupt halt by ‘Drago’.
