Cory Sandhagen took on Frankie Edgar in the co-main event at UFC Vegas 18. The bantamweight bout between the two men would have massive implications on the title picture at bantamweight. 

Going into the fight, Sandhagen was coming off a stunning knockout victory over Marlon Moraes. Edgar was coming off a split decision win over Pedro Munhoz. 

However, it was Sandhagen who came out on top with a stunning knockout win. ‘Sandman’ timed the flying knee perfectly, just as Edgar was lunging in for a takedown. It took Cory under 30-seconds to stop a legend of the sport.

After the fight, he stated, “It feels good, but that’s Frankie Edgar. I don’t want to see that happen to him, but better him than me”

Twitter reacts as Cory Sandhagen puts on a knockout of the year contender

‘Durinho’ who fights for the welterweight title next week at UFC 258 took to Twitter to react to the ‘nasty’ flying knee.

Funkmaster‘ took to Twitter to applaud Sandhagen, who he beat at UFC 251.

Funky‘ Ben Askren reacted in sympathy, as he himself has been on the receiving end of a nasty flying knee as well.

UFC host, Megan Olivi, tweeted in praise of the ‘Sandman’.

Megan Anderson, who faces Amanda Nunes for the title next month, felt that Sandhagen should get a title shot after his performance at UFC Vegas 18.

After a setback against ‘Funkmaster,’ Cory Sandhagen has bounced back with a vengeance. He has demolished everyone put in front of him. In his last two fights, ‘Sandman’ has fought less than eight minutes combined.

Although he was beaten comprehensively by Aljamain, after two back to back impressive knockouts, it is hard to deny him a title shot.

‘Funkmaster’ takes on ‘No Mercy’ next month at UFC 259 for the bantamweight strap. In the post-fight interview, Sandhagen stated that he wanted to fight for the title next, and it is almost certain that he will be fighting for UFC gold in his next fight.
