The UFC returned to action this weekend with UFC Vegas 37. It featured a card headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith and Ryan ‘Superman’ Spann. The rest of the card also featured interesting matchups, which included the likes of viral knockout artist Joaquin Buckley.

‘New Mansa’ took on Antonio Arroyo as the first fight on the main card. Buckley came into the fight on the back of a head-kick loss against Alessio Di Chirico, whereas Arroyo came into the fight on the back of a two-fight skid. On the night, it was ‘New Mansa’ who prevailed once again, securing yet another knockout win to add to his ever-growing reel.

Joaquin Buckley gets back into the win column

The fight started off with both men coming forward and engaging right away. It was evident that Arroyo was tentative with his offense, as he did not want to be caught by Buckley’s right hand. Despite that, Arroyo went toe-to-toe with Buckley for the best part of three rounds and held his own.

The finishing sequence saw ‘New Mansa’ land a vicious right hand, followed by a right uppercut. The combination immediately dropped Arroyo to the ground. Buckley immediately pounced on his opponent to land a few strikes while he was on the ground. And that was the end of the fight.

Against Arroyo, ‘New Mansa’ showed that he has more than just a right hand and is willing and able to grind out a win. Over the course of the fight, Buckley landed 45 total strikes with an accuracy of 42%. He also landed 41 significant strikes with an accuracy of 40%.

Buckley, who suffered a devastating knockout in his last outing, is back in the win column once again. Despite his win, it is unclear if ‘New Mansa’ will secure a rank in the UFC’s middleweight division next week.

However, if he is able to secure a few more wins, it will not be long before he has a number right next to his name.
