

The eleventh-ranked Rob Font took on third-ranked Marlon Moraes in an interesting matchup at bantamweight at UFC Vegas 17.
It has been a tough few years for Font who has been dealing with injuries. Because of the setbacks, he has fought only once in each of the last three years. However, Font did not show any sign of being out of competition for a year. He put on a clinical display and secured an impressive win over a dangerous former title challenger.

Rob Font finishes Marlon Moraes in round one
Font did not have the best possible start to the fight, Moraes used his wrestling to good effect. ‘Magic’ managed to secure two out of three attempted takedowns early on in the fight.
However, once Font was able to get back on his feet, he was in a league of his own. The beginning of the end came when Font landed an inch-perfect jab right on Moraes’ chin. The jab wobbled the Brazilian who started back peddling.

Sensing that his opponent was hurt, and a finish was in sight, Font rushed forward and applied pressure. He landed a perfectly timed uppercut that dropped Moraes to the floor, and from there, Font started piling on the damage until the referee had seen enough.
During the course of the fight, Rob landed an impressive 33 total strikes with an accuracy of 80%. He also landed 30 significant strikes with an accuracy of 81%.

Font came into the fight on the back of a two-fight win streak. With a win tonight he moved to 3-0 and is poised for a top 10 rank without a doubt. In the post-fight interview, Font mentioned that he would like to TJ Dillashaw on his return.

If Font can stay fit, he will be a big problem for the fighters at 135-pounds.
