VIDEO: Valentina Shevchenko and Deiveson Figueiredo Embrace Each Other Backstage After Successful Title Defenses

November 23, 2020 1:09 pm

Deiveson Figueiredo and Valentina Shevchenko defended their belts at UFC 255. While ‘Bullet’ labored more to defend her belt, ‘Daico’ took less than two minutes to submit Alex Perez and in the process secure his first title defense at flyweight.

Both ‘Bullet’ and ‘Daico’ are extremely dominant champions who are riding a six and five-fight win streak, respectively.

After the fight, Figueiredo was seen backstage with his belt. While strolling around with his belt the Brazilian champion ran into ‘Bullet’. The pair congratulated each other before posing for photos with their belts proudly placed on their shoulders. The photo has a combined 40 wins, just four losses, and an impressive five title defenses.

Deiveson Figueiredo is set for a sensational 21-day turnaround

Following an impressive win against Perez, ‘Daico’ made the headlines, not for his performance, but for the news that broke out after his win.

In the post-fight interview, Deiveson mentioned that he wanted to take on Moreno next for the title. In the post-fight press conference, Dana White stated that the two men would fight in December. Before the end of the night, news broke out that Figueiredo had already verbally agreed to the fight.

The fight between the two men is a mouth-watering clash between two killers in the flyweight division. Moreno submitted another top contender in Brandon Royval in one round to move to 3-0.

The fight comes at an opportune time for the UFC. UFC 256 has been dealing with one title fight cancellation after another. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ first pulled out of his fight against Gibert Burns. They then called off Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson as the former was injured and most the new main event of Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling was canceled.

Therefore, if the fight is finalized it will most likely be the main event at UFC 256. It will feature an incredible 21-day turnaround for the champion and challenger which is truly commendable.

Who do you think will come out on top when Figueiredo and Moreno take on each other next month? Let us know in the comments below.
