UFC icon and former dual division champion Conor McGregor is a man on a mission. The Irishman will look to avenge his defeat from earlier this year against Dustin Poirier in the headlining event of UFC 264. This will be a trilogy bout between the two lightweight behemoths.

McGregor was brutally injured by Poirier with leg kicks en route to the latter’s 2nd round TKO win. ‘The Notorious’ one would be rather keen to check that lapse in his game to challenge a formidable Poirier.

Recently, a video surfaced where the Irishman was seen training vigorously for his next fight. The video covered all the necessary preparations the Irishman needs for the mega clash.

The video started with McGregor practicing some striking with leg kicks. He practiced the leg kicks for quite a while, (assuming it was to counter the ones coming from Poirier) focusing on head and body attacks. He sharpened his uppercut skills with some practice on wrecking ball.

Then McGregor proceeded to body conditioning with some pressure exercise on the abs machine. In between, Conor worked on his cardio, which included some pull-ups. Cardio is an area that has been a weak point for McGregor throughout his career.

The fight is certainly an important one for Conor. He has not been at his menacing best in the last few years, with fewer appearances compared to his early days. With a dangerous opponent like Poirier, he has to be in his best to have a chance at beating him.

Poirier (27-6) has only improved since his first match against McGregor back in 2014. He is currently riding a two-fight winning streak out of which one has come against McGregor in January this year. Prior to that, he won a hard-fought unanimous decision win over Dan Hooker last year.

It’s an interesting battle that has a lot at stake. The duo also has a chance to fight for the lightweight gold if either of them secures a win on July 10th.
