Who are Cody Garbrandt’s Training Partners?

UFC bantamweight fighter Cody Garbrandt is one of the best fighters the promotion can offer. ‘No Love’ has been under pressure to perform lately as he has incurred 3 losses in 4 matches. Fortunately, his last fight fetched him a victory against Raphael Assuncao.

Currently, the former bantamweight champion trains at Team Alpha Male academy, headed by Urijah Faber. He trains with several fighters there along with some legendary coaches. Let’s have a look at some of them.

Training partners of Cody Garbrandt

‘No Love’ trains with some of the best going around in the world of MMA. He usually shares sparring sessions with his teammates and coaches on his YouTube channel.

Chris Holdsworth

Holdsworth competes in the UFC and was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs Team Tate. He is absent from competitive fighting because of an indefinite hiatus from post-concussion syndrome. Currently, he is a training partner cum coach for Team Alpha members, including Garbrandt.

Song Yadong

The Chinese mixed martial artist competes at UFC in the bantamweight division. He often trains with Garbrandt in the academy. He last fought against Kyler Phillips at UFC 259, where he lost the fight.

Mike Mallot

Mallot fights for Cage Fury and his present record in MMA stands at (6-1). He is also one of the close pals of Garbrandt. He was instrumental in training him for the fight against Raphael Assuncao in June last year.

Anthony Avilla

Avilla is a lightweight fighter who has applied his trade for various promotions. He often features in the training session videos of Garbrandt.

Danny Castillo

Castillo is a former UFC fighter who spars and trains with Garbrandt at Alpha Male. He was released from UFC in 2016 after losing to Nik Lentz.

Training head coach- Urijah Faber

Garbrandt draws inspiration and trains under the head coach Urijah Faber. The latter is a UFC Hall of Fame inductee.

He fought two matches after his retirement and became only the second man in the promotion’s history to pick up the victory after being inducted into the hall of fame.

Recent stats of Garbrandt

Garbrandt breathed a sigh of relief after picking up a victory in the last match in June 2020. Before that he encountered 3 losses on the trot which derailed his momentum towards the title fight.

He secured a win against Assuncao via KO in round 2 at UFC 250. His last loss was against Pedro Munhoz and prior to that, he lost two back-to-back matches against his former training partner T.J. Dillashaw.

‘No Love’ would hope to continue his momentum after a satisfying win. Lately, he has been training hard for his next fight against Rob Font which is scheduled for UFC Vegas 27.
