Francis Ngannou seems pretty sure that his fight against Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Title is secure, even though Jon Jones has joined the division. He relayed that sentiment to MMAFighting.com and also spoke about a possible matchup against Jones. Ngannou considers Jones to be the best fighter in the world right now.
“It’s obviously something that everyone would love to see. If I were to say myself, I would have liked to see that fight. I wanted it to happen. If this fight would have happened, I would have been active by now. If I have two positive things, which is fighting Jon Jones, who is probably the greatest of all time, the No. 1 pound-for-pound in the world in my opinion, but the main thing I would stay active.”

On the matchup, Ngannou said. “I think I match up pretty well with Jon Jones. He’s gaining weight now. He seems really big and strong, but I think I match up pretty good. He has some good skills that he can match my power. It’s going to be different.”
When asked about losing his title fight to the debuting Jones, Ngannou said he isn’t worried. “Why should I be worried? No, I’m not worried.”

The fight is being rumored for March or April and would be a massive affair. Miocic won the first fight, but Ngannou has gone on a tear over the HW division, knocking out all top contenders within two minutes.

Jones will presumably get the winner of Miocic-Ngannou for his debut, which is fair considering Jones is possibly the greatest fighter in the history of MMA. The heavyweight division is exciting again, even if it is just three guys at the apex right now.
