Tony Ferguson takes on Charles Oliveira this weekend. Justin Gaethje snapped his 12 fight win streak when the two men faced each other at UFC 249. ‘The Highlight’ beat Ferguson in a dominant manner and inflicted a lot of damage. Most fans and pundits were shocked as to how one-sided the fight was. 

Ever since his loss to Gaethje, Ferguson has been desperate to bounce back with a win. It has taken him some time to find a fight. Charles Oliveira is an excellent opportunity for Tony to prove that he is far from done and that he has a lot left in his tank.

Charles Oliveira, a must-win fight for Tony Ferguson?

Leading up to the fight, a lot of the discussion surrounding Ferguson has been what next? If he wins this fight, will it put him on course for a fight against Khabib if he were to return? Alternatively, if Tony were to lose this fight, does that mean he is finished?

After his last fight at UFC 254 and his subsequent retirement, the ‘GOAT’ debate has kicked off again and this time a lot of fans and pundits alike place Nurmagomedov at the top spot.

A screen grab from a recent video showed Tony Ferguson sharing his thoughts on the same. “Well, he’s a goat but I’m a boat. So you go ahead and along with the other animals. You guys call me the boat.”

A lot of the questions for ‘El Cucuy’ leading up to the fight have been about Khabib Nurmagomedov. When asked if he was upset that Khabib retired and that fight might not take palace. Tony replied, “I could give two f**ks, I wanna be real. I don’t care anymore.”

Dana White has mentioned that he will be meeting with Khabib Nurmagomedov next month to finalize his future. If Tony were to win his fight at UFC 256, he will most likely be a topic of discussion between White and Nurmagomedov.
