Fighters and fans alike had shown sympathy with the fighter at that time, while some of them questioned his fighting intent after the loss. A certain Henry Cejudo falls under the second category, or at least Crute thinks so.
Taking an indirect dig at Crute, Cejudo posted a video on Twitter and added that the reason for him being a legend was that he knew how to take pain and fight, but some fighters can’t even take a bit of pain.
‘The Brute’ didn’t find this to his liking and lashed out at Cejudo for the same. In a retweet, he said, “You’re a f*****g idiot Henry. I tried my absolute best to convince the doctor to let me fight on.”
You’re a fucking idiot Henry. I tried my absolute best to convince the doctor to let me fight on.

‘The Messenger’ though, clarified in his retweet that it wasn’t aimed at him but more to that of recent fights like Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan and Eddie Alvarez’s disqualification.
Honestly this wasn’t even geared tours you but everybody that has taken a fall. Getting hit in the nuts and not fighting, Eddie Alvarez situation, Aljermin. Take it it heart if you want. What I’m saying is find a way to disguise your pain. I would of tagged you if it was 4 you.

Crute then replied that the video was all about him and his fight and mentioned his disliking towards the trend of taking outs in fights. Cejudo ended the conversation by saying he didn’t really see his fight and also had some piece of advice for ‘The Brute’.
‘The Messenger’ added, “Didn’t even see your fight but saw the situation. If I could give you my two cents. Switch stance when hurt and float the leg until it wakes up. Trust me, I know that shit hurts but that just the difference I show nothing. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I don’t know adversity.”

What really transpired during Jimmy Crute vs Anthony Smith?
Crute (12-2) was the heavy favorite going into the fight. He started positively with some leg kicks thrown towards Smith. But Smith then started hitting leg kicks of his own and one of those landed pretty hard on Crute’s knee, forcing him to drop to the canvas.
Crute started attempting for the takedown and got one in his fourth attempt. He kept Smith on the mat for the rest of the rounder. As soon as the round was over, he barely stood up and gingerly walked towards his corner.
It was already clear at this point he was carrying a dead leg, and the cage-side physician confirmed the bad news for Crute and called for the match to stop immediately.
