UFC Welterweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev is recovering from the persisting effects of COVID-19. However, this hasn’t stopped him from catching some action inside the octagon. The Russian-born fighter is currently enjoying a 3-fight win streak in the promotion and now has called out another emerging prospect, Neil Magny.

After watching Magny’s win over Geoff Neil at the recently concluded UFC Vegas 26, ‘Borz’ fired shots over the former on Twitter and said,@NeilMagny you’re fighting me next. Don’t run like chicken We will see who slaps who in the cage @danawhite”

Chimaev’s corner certainly wants him to fight Magny when the former makes his return later this year. In an earlier interview, ‘Borz’ manager Ali Abdelaziz talked about his desired opponent for him.

He was not so pleased with the idea of Nick Diaz fighting his man. He also said how big fighters like Stephen Thompson are reluctant to sign a contract with Chimaev. “Dana White is the boss who makes the fights and if this is what you want, we’ll take it, but I don’t think this fight should happen.

“I know we had some back-and-forth talks with Neil Magny. Neil Magny fights in two weeks. Listen, if Neil Magny wins, maybe they can fight in August. Because nobody else, like Wonderboy, doesn’t want to fight (Khamzat Chimaev). It’s not easy to fight a guy like him.”

Abdelaziz had pressed the idea of Magny fighting ‘Borz’ if the former gets past Geoff Neal (which he did). He discussed the timeline of Chimaev‘s return and predicted it to be in August.

Both the fighters aren’t new to throwing challenges to each other. Earlier this year, Magny had lost his fight against Michael Chiesa at UFC on ESPN 20 via a unanimous decision. This prompted ‘Borz’ to take a dig at ‘The Haitian Sensation’ over Twitter.

This didn’t impress Magny a bit, and he retweeted,Make sure you keep that same energy when you see me in person! I’ll give you my word, that I’m slaaping you on sight and teaching some respect!”

Chimaev and his corner will be hoping that the fighter recovers soon and continues his impressive performance. It will be interesting to see who he will face next.
