Glover Teixeira vs Thiago Santos was the main event at UFC Vegas 13. The two Brazilian fighters squared off in the light heavyweight division. There was a lot of hype surrounding the fight between two of the division’s hardest hitters. Their fight delivered on all the hype it had garnered.

At 41, Teixeira proved that he has a lot left in him. Despite facing early adversity, he was able to weather the storm and secure a win over a dangerous Thiago Santos. With the win, he has now positioned himself for a title shot and it is exactly what he wants in his next fight. 

Glover Teixeira wants a fight with Jan Blachowicz next for the title

Following his win, John Anik asked Glover how he felt about his performance tonight and what he would like next.

He replied, Dana White. Come on, man. I’m old, you’re gonna give this shot to Adesanya, make me wait. Five fights in a row, beating the same guys, it’s not easy. Give me that title shot, but either way, I’m so glad to be here, thank you Dana, thank UFC. In Rocky Balboa’s words, it’s not how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and keep coming forward.”

Glover has cemented his place as one of the best light-heavyweights to have ever competed in the division. With his submission win over Santos, Teixeira now holds the record for the most stoppage victories in UFC light heavyweight history (12). 

He also has an impressive 15 wins in UFC light heavyweight history, which is just five shy of the record holder Jon Jones. The Brazilian fighter has unsuccessfully fought for the title at UFC 172 against Jon Jones.

With a win over Santos, Glover is now 5-0 in his last five fights. He makes an excellent case for a title shot and a second opportunity at winning the belt. However, given that Blachowicz is set to face Israel Adesanya, it remains to be seen what happens over the next few months with Glover Teixeira.
