Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz put on a war over five rounds at UFC 263. Edwards dominated most of the fight and thankfully survived a last-minute scare to secure a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263. With the win, ‘Rocky’ extended his win streak to 9-0 and makes a legitimate claim to be next in line for a title shot at welterweight. Colby Covington however, does not believe ‘Rocky’ deserves a title shot next.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, the host asked ‘Chaos’ what he made of Edwards’ performance against Nate Diaz. And if the performance warranted a title shot.

He said, “Uhh you know, I think that is hilarious. I think Edwards scissor hands he’s out here claiming to be this god, and he is ready for a title shot. Dude you’re struggling with a lightweight journeyman who has double-digit losses on his record and this guy is almost finishing you. And you think you need to be in a title shot? That guy needs to win 10 more fights. Or 20 more fights if he can’t get by Nate Diaz.”

‘Chaos’ continued, “That guy is the Stockton soy-boy. He has been finished by everybody. That guy has no gas left in the tank, he’s even saying it himself that he has no motivation left to fight. If you’re struggling with like Nate Diaz, there’s no way you belong anywhere close to a world title fight.”

Can Leon Edwards beat Colby Covington to a title shot?

Covington is slated for a shot at the title. ‘Chaos’ is the number one contender in the division and therefore, a fight between him and Usman would be a no-brainer.

However, Edwards has an impressive nine-fight win streak. And also makes a strong case for a title shot. Dana White has stated multiple times that Covington is next in line. However, the champion Kamaru Usman is not particularly interested in facing Covington and he has made that very clear since he has not seen any activity from ‘Chaos’.

Given that Covington has in the past been snubbed for a title fight, it won’t be surprising if it happens again. However, the chances are slim to none given how vocal White has been about Covington deserving the next title shot.
