Glover Teixeira has set the bar high with four back-to-back wins at one of the most competitive divisions in the UFC. Soon after losing to Corey Anderson via unanimous decision back in July 2018, the 41-year-old MMA veteran has not looked back.

Now, with consecutive victories over former title contenders in Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos, it would be a crime to withhold a title shot from the MMA legend.

Glover Teixeira is no journeyman. With wins over the likes of Quinton Jackson, Ryan Bader, and Ovince Saint Preux, Jared Cannonier, and Rashad Evans, Texeira has the highest number wins at light-heavyweight right now.

Teixeira’s 20 fight winning streak came to an end at the hands of Jon Jones back in April 2004. With a string of impressive performances in the recent past, there’s no denying that he will get his shot at light-weight gold next. Additionally, even the current light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz feels likewise.

However, there is one problem. The current middleweight champion is expected to take on Jan Blachowicz in an attempt to become a dual champion.

However, that would mean that Texeira might not get to fight for the title for quite some time. Needless to say, at 41 years of age, that’s the last thing that Glover Texeira would want.

Where does Texeira go from here?

If UFC still goes forward with Israel Adesanya vs Jan Blachowicz, the Brazilian legend could find himself in a very precarious situation.

When the new rankings are updated, Texeira is bound to find himself at the top of the division. In such a situation, only a super-fight makes sense for the Brazilian legend. The best option right now? Yoel Romero.

Glover Teixeira vs Yoel Romero makes sense

If any fighter has even come close to dethroning Israel Adesanya, it was the ‘Soldier of God’ Yoel Romero back at UFC 248.

Earlier, he was scheduled to take on Uriah Hall. However, Romero pulled out of the bout due to an undisclosed reason. Soon after, reports emerged that he could be looking at a jump to the light-heavyweight division.

Additionally, with Jon Jones moving up a weight class, Hall claimed that Romero is moving up. Romero has lost his last 4 fights. However, it can be argued that some of those decisions could have gone either way.

Even in his early 40s, Romero has competed against the best that the middleweight division had to offer. The match-up promises to be an epic showdown against former Olympic wrestler, and a powerful striker like Yoel Romero.

Needless to say, it could also prove to be Romero’s last fight should he fail to get past Teixeira. Glover Teixeira vs Yoel Romero is an exciting match-up and is sure to grab the attention of fight fans around the world.
