Imagine a high-octane race in Costa Rica, fighting for the Costa Rica National Motorcycling Championship. You’re going full-speed down the main straight, fighting for a position. Imagine the adrenaline that’s pumping in your veins.

Unfortunately that adrenaline rush changed the Motorcycling race into an MMA fight as two racers threw punches in the middle of the race in 2019.

High Octane Punches

Jorge Martinez and Marion Calvo, racing in the Superbike category faced this exact scenario in 2019. Both racers were charging full-speed down the main straight, and were in the middle of a fight for a position. Unfortunately, Calvo tapped into Martinez during this high-intensity battle, destabilizing Martinez.

In what can only be described as a superhuman feat, Martinez, despite losing control of his bike, somehow managed to hang onto Calvo’s bike. Within a matter of seconds, Martinez completely let go of his own bike, and struggled to balance himself on top of his rival’s bike.

Eventually realizing what has happened, Calvo managed to gain control, coming to a stop at the end of the main straight. Miraculously, none of the bikers were injured, unless you count the emotional injuries of the two drivers, as this incident meant that both their races ended right then and there.

Martinez, obviously full of adrenaline, got down from Calvo’s bike, and punched Calvo right at his helmet, knocking him off from the bike. This infamous incident attracted worldwide attention, and the two drivers were punished with a two-year ban.

The video of this incident recently went viral on Twitter. Twitterati were quick to ridicule the happenings on circuit, and were beginning to question their reality. One fan stated “I thought this type of stuff was video games only. Look like a cut scene. James Bond’s son just hopping from his motorcycle over to yours for a fight mid race? No one prepared him”
