Naman Ojha got his maiden test call for the 4th test on account of injury to Wriddhiman Saha backed by his stellar performances for India A.

The wicket keeper batsman has been on song lately smashing back to back centuries for India A in Australia. He smashed 219,101 not out and 110 averaging 430 runs in 3 innings and missed out on Dravid’s feat by a whisker having the highest batting average for India in any format-432 against Zimbabwe in the home series in 2000-01  by a whisker.

When contacted by Hindustan Times Ojha said “I don’t know how to express feelings. To play a test match is a matter of great pride for all cricketers. I am extremely lucky to have been selected in the team and if I get a chance to play for India ,I will try to give it my best”. About his top form and variation in conditions, he said, “I am not worried about variation in conditions as if I get a chance, will try to maintain my batting form.”

Naman Ojha has 6877 runs on his name with a batting average of 42.62 in first class cricket. He also had his best Ranji season so far as he scored 835 runs in 7 outings. Hard work seems to have finally paid off for the Madhya Pradesh batsman and if he gets a chance it will be his test debut for India. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at Harare which wasn’t the most successful one and his innings lasted just seven ball . He had a fairly successful IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad scoring consistently throughout the tournament.

With Captain Dhoni being India’s Wicket keeper, the chances of Naman Ojha making to the India’s playing 11 are really dim but considering his recent form, he definitely is the best man for the job.
