Naomi Osaka Breaks Down in Press Conference after Wimbledon Loss

Word No. 2, Naomi Osaka was sent packing in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships 2019 as she was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 on Monday.

Naomi Osaka was certainly devastated by her first round upset at the Wimbledon Championships. The Japnese was devastated by her loss as she cuts the post-match press conference and said, “can we stop, I feel like I’m about to cry.”

Yulia Putintseva defeated Naomi Osaka for the second consecutive time after recently knocking her our in Birmingham. She fought hard in the first set after an early break to take the set on a tiebreak. Yulia was all over the Japanese in the second set as she won the match in one hour and 36 minutes.

In the post-match interview, Naomi Osaka was asked about what makes Yulia so tough? Osaka replied that “she mixes up all very well.”  I don’t think that I played that well but I wasn’t surprised because I’ve played her like twice already. 

Confused Naomi Osaka later suggested that it was very hard to not have the last defeat against Yulia Putintseva in her head.

The interviewer then asked Naomi Osaka about the split of her and his coach affecting her performance. He asked, “The split from your coach was correlated with the change of your from? Do you believe in that? Naomi replied that they are not corrected. SHe said, “I don’t think it’s related at all.”

She further continued and said, “I wouldn’t blame my age on anything, I’ve done a lot of good things and I’ve done a lot of bad things but I am not the type of person that would say because I am young, I can get away with doing certain things.”

She was also asked about what would she do to pick her confidence up in the next few days? Confused Naomi Osaka replied, “I don’t know there are answers to questions that you guys ask but I still haven’t figured it out yet.”

The Japanese further added, “I think I should’ve been able to play well today cause I wasn’t practicing bad but you never know what’s gonna happen during matches.”

“The key for me was just like having fun I guess like learning how to have fun and kind of taking the pressure off myself so I hope, I can somehow find a way to that,” said the World No. 2.

She later stopped the interview in the between and said, “can we stop, I feel like I’m about to cry.”
