Kaz Grala, the part-time NASCAR driver, is set to give his luck a run this Sunday at the biggest stage of American motorsports, the Daytona 500. Grala, who will be running for the Money Team Racing, a team owned by boxing icon Floyd Mayweather, had earlier tried to invite NFL legend Tom Brady to enter NASCAR.

In a pitch message directly addressed to the recently retired quarterback last year, Grala tried convincing Brady to jump in NASCAR ownership like ‘outsiders’ Michael Jordan, and Pitbull.

“Why should you sponsor me? Well, I’ve been successful running in all three series in NASCAR. I’m a first-generation American living the dreams of my family and, well, we both migrated south from Boston. So far, it seems to be working pretty well for both of us,” Grala had said.

“I mean, name a better duo. We’ve got Batman and Robin, peanut butter and jelly, Tom and Kaz. If only I was named Jerry. So let’s skip the ‘your people, my people thing’ and just contact me directly … I look forward to hearing from you. I’ll have my ringer on.”

Of course, that never happened.

But Grala nevertheless found himself a ride for this year’s Daytona 500, in the form of Floyd Mayweather, who was attempting to enter NASCAR for a few years already.

Floyd Mayweather says entry into NASCAR “a perfect fit” for his brand

Earlier this month it was announced that Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team Racing will be officially making a run for the Daytona 500.

In a press release, the boxing icon said, “I love fast cars and I love to compete. I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me.”

“With that being said, this move into auto racing seems to be a perfect fit for the Mayweather brand.”

Driver Kaz Grala also expressed his excitement after his pitch finally fulfilled its purpose, albeit with a different sporting icon. “I know Floyd is here to win, and I absolutely feel that everyone involved in this program is capable of making that happen,” he said.

The first step for Floyd Mayweather, Kaz Grala, and the Money Racing Team was to qualify for the Daytona 500, which they successfully did. The No.50 Chevrolet will start in 35th place. As for whether it can go and win the race?
