Fans rarely expect NASCAR to host F1 drivers. But to everyone’s surprise, Project 91 could really make this a common practice in the industry. For the uninitiated, it is a project from Trackhouse Racing, where the team can host a ‘guest’ driver for one of the races in the season in their #91 car.

What is the Project 91 announcement that Justin Marks made?

In a recent post by Justin Marks, he made an announcement of adding races and drivers to their unique venture. His decision quickly extracted numerous comments from the fans.

Marks revealed that Formula 1 driver, Kimi Raikkonen will be racing in the project 91 car yet again. Raikkonen drove the No. 91 Chevy Camaro ZL1 for the first time at Watkins Glen International. But Justin didn’t stop there. He further revealed that “I think that beyond COTA, the door is certainly open for Kimi to do more. But I am excited about scaling Project 91. We’re going to have multiple drivers in the seat this year. Those announcements will come soon.

“Project 91 will be multiple races this year and it will be multiple drivers this year,” he said on the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Justin is sure to introduce new drivers and participate in several races throughout the year as he looks forward to scaling Project 91. His revelation couldn’t help but induce fans to express their feelings regarding the announcement made. However, his revelation left fans expressing their preferred drivers.

F1 drivers become a hot topic in a NASCAR-Project 91 announcement

It has been confirmed that Kimi will be driving the Project 91 car at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. But the comments section showed fans giving out opinions. This time, fans took the initiative to suggest drivers for Project 91.

Fans now wanted to see different F1 drivers competing in a stock car. One fan showed his utmost love for Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso and commented, “I would absolutely love to see Fernando Alonso on a weekend that doesn’t clash with f1 that man can drive anything you give him at the limit!”
