After a good start to 2025, Frankie Muniz had to screech to a painful halt. In late August, the actor-turned-racer fell from a ladder while replacing the batteries in a security camera. That resulted in a “distal radial fracture,” and the Reaume Brothers Racing driver missed four racing weekends. Yet he came back confidently to Talladega with a rejuvenated mindset. And another comeback is also due.

The severity of the injury led many in the garage to ponder Frankie Muniz’s future. After all, 2025 marked the star’s rookie full-time season in Trucks, and Muniz is not as young as many of his competitors. However, he is not backing down from the challenges.

Another celebrity-rich season for next year
Frankie Muniz started his NASCAR career on a high note. In 2023, his competition in the ARCA Menards Series turned fruitful with a solid 4th-place finish in points. In 2024, he competed in two Xfinity Series races, and soon enough, he struck up a partnership with Ford. He launched his 2025 Craftsman Truck Series schedule with a bang, finishing in the top ten with the No. 33 Ford F-150 for RBR. But then he plummeted into a draught of low finishes, fetching only twin top 20 results in Michigan (14th) and Pocono (19th).
Despite his season being riddled with injury and lowly results, Frankie Muniz‘s enthusiasm is no less. That was evident in his announcement to Frontstretch about his 2026 plans. As reporter Michael Massie asked him, “We will see you behind the wheel of something. That’s guaranteed next year?” Muniz replied confidently: “Yeah, 100%. I’ll be racing something for sure. Yeah, we’ll see. Can’t say too much.”

Well, it’s not just Frankie Muniz who can’t say too much about his 2026 plans. None of the drivers for the 2026 Truck Series have yet to be confirmed, including RBR’s No. 33. The only driver whose blueprint for the next season is fixed is Brenden Queen. He will become the first Ram driver since 2012 when it returns to the grid next season with Kaulig Racing.
For now, Frankie Muniz simply divulged his continued relationship with Ford. Additionally, a few races in different NASCAR tiers, like Xfinity and Cup, are also on the table. Muniz said, “I’ve got a few options right now in different series, and just being honest, and you know, obviously, continue my relationship with Ford, and I’ll take whatever direction they want to push me. We’re discussing it all right now… But I would like to drive a truck again, so we’ll see.”
Evidently, Frankie Muniz offered a skeletal structure of his 2026 plans. However, we do know that it will be a little less hectic than 2025.

Combining both sides of his career
Long before Frankie Muniz entered NASCAR, he shot to fame in another realm. He is renowned across the globe for his iconic role in ‘Malcolm in the Middle.’ The family sitcom stole hearts and enthralls fans to this day, with its characters gaining immortal popularity. The final and 7th season of the show aired from September 30, 2005, to May 14, 2006. Although that was two decades ago, the creators of the show are cooking something nice for 2026. A reboot is on the way, and the shooting schedule was set for 2025. Naturally, Muniz was part of it – but he could not help but admit the hectic routine.
Balancing NASCAR and Hollywood, the two sides of his career, was daunting. “It was a tough year, as far as schedule, just being crazy busy,” an older Malcolm told Frontstretch. Frankie Muniz continued that he will probably be a little conscious in 2026: “I learned that a little bit this year too, and I’ve got to learn how to say no a little bit more, just in general. I’ve learned that when you have opportunity, it’s good to say yes, because you don’t know when you’re gonna get that opportunity again. But I want to do this, and I really should be focused on that.” Muniz said that the reboot will probably be released in April 2026.
As Frankie Muniz expands his NASCAR career, we cannot wait to see how far he grows. After all, little Malcolm has come a long way to achieve his dreams!
