Here’s the thing, if you ever want to anger a NASCAR fan, just utter the word ‘electric’ and the job will be done. But then again, it’s more or less a reality toward which the sport could be headed. But instead of giving his thoughts on where he thinks the sport will be in a decade or what kind of racecars we’ll have and so on, Elliott decided to take the other way. He didn’t have a prediction, let alone a prediction about the electrification of NASCAR that could’ve angered the fans.

“A lot of things that NASCAR does on the weekend is not my decision. Frankly, I’m a part of the event and I’m just a competitor in the event. I think for me to sit here and act like I have this perfectly mapped out story for where NASCAR goes for the next 10 years, I’d be lying because that’s just not my call and my job right now is to perform at a high level behind the wheel,” Elliott described. “I don’t know where it’s headed, I really don’t.”

“I think what scares me about some of those changes is they’re not gonna be able to look in the mirror and say, ‘This wasn’t good’ and we need to maybe do this a little differently or go back here or go back there.”
