On a recent podcast appearance following his win at Kansas, Bubba Wallace was asked about his process. The 23XI Racing driver, who has more or less bounced back from the misery of his first half of the season, had a very sober answer to that question.

An answer that perhaps his own boss, Michael Jordan, wouldn’t really appreciate.

Jordan is notoriously known for ‘never switching it off.’ The former NBA player is a regular in the contention for the title of the greatest athlete of all time, and a large part of him getting there was his work ethic and his borderline obsession with his craft and his job.

Anyway, when Wallace was asked about his process, he decided to open up with a joke first.

“Honestly, I messed up. I got the contract extension and then I went and won, I should’ve won before that,” he said as he segued into the response. “Everybody does things differently. Me, I get done with racing, do my debriefs, and then I just put it to the side.”

“We have the sim on Wednesdays but honestly, it doesn’t ring back up for me until Friday evening, Saturday morning when we’re at the track and I’m like, ‘Okay, time to put the shoes on, go get the gloves, get in the game and do it all over again,'” he continued.

“That’s as simple as that.”

Does Bubba Wallace get star-struck by Michael Jordan?

It’d be very tough to find someone who doesn’t get star-struck by Michael Jordan, but his NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace, recently admitted in an interview that he, for one, doesn’t.

Wallace described how cool it is to be part of MJ’s team and to be “under his wing.”

The #23 driver revealed that he enjoys every conversation, every interaction he has with Jordan.

“I rarely ever get starstruck… I don’t know if I ever really have. And to me, MJ’s just another guy that is passionate about what he likes to do and is competitive and we share a lot of the same core values,” Wallace said.

“So, it’s really cool.”
