During the Coca-Cola 600, Ryan Blaney was the hero of the day, grabbing his first win in more than a year. Behind him, plenty of action unfolded on the track, with a number of shenanigans. In all that, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace pulled off a remarkable comeback to finish in fourth place.

This put him ahead of teammate Tyler Reddick, who finished the race in 5th place, bringing a solid points haul. It was all thanks to some excellent teamwork between Wallace and his spotter, Freddie Kraft.

In the last few laps of the race, Wallace found himself running 19th during a late restart. Kraft told him on the radio, “One to go at the line, P 19, number is 8. Ready? Green, Green. Keep rolling. Spin in the middle, stay high, keep coming. Check up, no! Down, down, down! Middle, middle, Watch it, come down. Watch it coming off the bottom right here. All good, all good.”

For the sake of context, Kraft was expertly guiding Wallace from that restart.

Not long after, there was a spin ahead of the #23 driver, and Wallace dodged it, thanks to his spotter.

The driver then whooped on his radio, “You sly son of a b***h, you!”.

The Spotter Under Michael Jordan’s Payroll Was Simply Shy of the Praise

Ever the humble one, Freddie Kraft tried to downplay his role in keeping Wallace’s car in one piece. He said on the radio, “Every once in a while, I get lucky”.

By then, Bubba Wallace had vaulted up to 14th when the next caution came out. When the green flag dropped, Kraft and Wallace were back at it once again. The former said, “Coming all the way top, all the way top, all the way top. Gear down if you need it. Still there, still quarter, still quarter. Clear! Come give me some more, 16 to go at the line.”

Just like that, the driver scythed his way through the field. Finally, he made his way past the #45 car of teammate Tyler Reddick and slotted into 4th. From there, congratulations were exchanged between the driver and the spotter. Kraft declared that his driver had earned his money, before confessing that the race took a lot out of him.

NASCAR Fans Showered Praise on Bubba Wallace for His Heroic Efforts

Of course, Wallace fans were on the edge of their seats, seeing their favorite driver on the track. They were pretty thrilled to see him carve his way through the pack, like carving a Christmas turkey. Even the fans watching from the comfort of their homes were practically screaming themselves hoarse.

“I love this!!!”

Although it was not a win, they were no less discouraged. One fan across the pond cheered, “Great race, a win is not far away! Keep it up Greetz from the Netherlands”.

Another acknowledged Kraft’s efforts, “Yes! The dynamic duo! Keep it up guys! You guys are firing on all cylinders!”

Without a doubt, this kind of performance would keep the #23 driver fired up. This weekend, the paddock heads to the World Wide Technology Raceway in Gateway. If Bubba Wallace can qualify well, he could be in with a shout of sneaking into the Playoffs for the first time.
