When Myatt Snider suffered the horrific crash during the final lap of the Xfinity Series race at Daytona, many worried whether he was okay. And fortunately, the 27-year-old was okay, with some minor injuries. However, what many didn’t notice was the fact that right where the crash took place, NBA legend and NASCAR Cup team co-owner Michael Jordan was sitting with his camp.

Jordan, who is the co-owner of the 23XI Racing Team with Denny Hamlin, had a pretty good seat at the Daytona International Speedway, as close as one can get, with only a fence and barrier wall separating him from the asphalt.

But little did he know, or anyone for that matter, that the last lap crash would be so brutal that it would rip the car to shreds, with debris flying all over the place.

Luckily for the former Chicago Bulls player, he and his camp were not struck by any piece of the wrecked car.

Later on, Denny Hamlin described the reaction of Jordan and his camp after the crash. “They said they’ve got debris in their area,” Hamlin said. “He said it was the sound and the wreck itself was crazy when it came into his area.”

The Joe Gibbs driver described how Jordan, “a big race fan” has been in Daytona since Thursday, how he “loves watching these races.”

Hamlin reveals the “important things” for Michael Jordan with 23XI Racing Team

In a recent interview, Denny Hamlin revealed the one all-important thing Michael Jordan wanted to be sure about before he joined hands for the 23XI Racing team. “One of the things that was very important to him and his brand is that we can’t fail,” Hamlin said. “We can’t be going out of business in a couple years.”

“We’ve got to be in this for the long haul. And so, building something slowly but surely, that is the strategic way we’re trying to go about this.”

In their first season, although the 23XI Racing Team did win one race, it was largely a season full of inconsistent and poor results. However, with some new and old names on the team, Michael Jordan and his team would look to make their mark on the 2022 season.

The first opportunity of which will be this Sunday – the Daytona 500.
