This week, 23XI Racing and Bubba Wallace are focusing on the technical track and leaving their past behind. Wallace is now 15th in the points standings after a slow start to his 2023 season with some controversy. He performed well in Darlington and Kansas.

Though he is 15th in the standings, Wallace is also eyeing a turnaround this week to keep his playoff chances afloat. However, the outspoken driver has publicly shared his displeasure with the team and pointed out its inadequacy. Last week, the #23 Toyota had brake problems and the Alabama driver blamed his team for not being good enough.

Bubba Wallace comes out with a controversial remark against his team, citing last week’s disaster

23XI Racing, founded by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin in 2020, has impressed the community with its skilled team and reliable performance. However, the team could not produce worthy results. Whether it be Wallace’s antics or his teammate Tyler Reddick’s inconsistent performances.

While his Circuit of The Americas win earned Reddick and the team much-needed momentum, as he heads to The Tricky Triangle, it looks like they have lost that steam. Mechanical failures have plagued the team, and this was apparent in last week’s performance when the #23 car was struggling to halt in the braking zone.

The driver even slid past his pit stop twice because of this. However, Wallace’s optimism revealed his psyche heading into the race, tweeting, “The twin killers of success are impatience and greed.”

While they agreed it to be the best that got the best of the #23 Toyota last week, complications did their thing for the car. Wallace also poked in a jab, subtly mocking the team.

When asked about the challenges heading into the iconic Pocono Raceway, Wallace had a simple answer, saying, “Brakes not failing, lived that experience, that yeah.”

Alongside Martin Truex Jr‘s dominating run at New Hampshire, the rest of the Toyotas too had decent finishes. Tyler Reddick finished 6th, beating Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace. While the drivers had decent success with a timely pit stop, that doesn’t take away their struggle. Especially with Wallace and Reddick. Jordan’s team this season has had a disaster in the form of mechanical failure—brake fades. Though the driver finished in the top 10, during the last laps last laps of stage 2, Erik Jones spun out of control on lap 163, giving out a caution.

After the caution flag was waved, Bubba somehow managed to bring his car back to P9 before restarting. Following his bold move, his Crew Chief, Bootie Barker, praised the #23 driver and instructed him to stay on the lead laps. But, the driver instead revealed his trouble. He said, You want to know something. Brake dial does not work. No idea where the f*ck I am”!
