Kurt Busch Opens Up on “The Responsibility” He Feels for Boss Michael Jordan as a 23XI Racing Driver

You wouldn’t need a lot of time or a lot of guessing to come up with the answer to the question of how Michael Jordan is as a boss? It’s pretty widely covered, the NBA legend’s personality, yet the recent comments from Kurt Busch, the NASCAR veteran who races for the 23XI Racing team could perhaps add more.

In a recent interview, Busch spoke about the spirit he goes into every race week in and week out.

“We’re racing with Michael Jordan type of spirit,” Busch said.“When we just missed out on pole position at Loudon [New Hampshire], he texted me with the [shrug] emoji of ‘Why’d you choke? What’d you do wrong? I thought you had it.'”

“That’s him, that’s the fan. That’s the sport in him.”

The 43-year-old driver went on to reveal how Jordan “loves his cars”, and of course, loves to win. Consequently, the passion and ambition the former Chicago Bulls player has, gets translated to his driver, Busch as well.

“There’s that responsibility that I feel when I race for him,” he emphasized.

Has Kurt Busch reached the end of the line?

Recently, the 23XI Racing team announced that Tyler Reddick will be joining them from Richard Childress Racing after 2023. However, what wasn’t announced was whether Reddick would get in a new car, or replace one of Kurt Busch or Bubba Wallace.

Now, everything is still open, but it’s not rocket science to assume that should a driver were to be replaced, it’d undoubtedly be Busch.

But the thing is, it might not even come down to it.

This is because Busch recently hinted toward his retirement after the end of the next season. “I’ve been in this sport 23 years, and this, to me, is like one of those kid-in-the-candy store moments of, ‘I wanna be a part of this,’” he said.

“I’m glad I’m having the chance to drive next year for the team, and I might be done driving after that.”
