With an instilled hyper-competitive nature, Michael Jordan is known for voicing his strong opinions without hesitation. However, at times, due to his unafraid and insatiably competitive persona, many probably view the 6x NBA champion as someone who gets into people’s faces. But that’s not the case with Jordan’s friend and NASCAR business partner Denny Hamlin who claims to have ‘successfully humbled’ MJ.

In a recent one-on-one interview with Ashley Stroehlein, Denny Hamlin revealed his special bond with his 23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan.

While talking about the friendship that they had even before entering into a business relationship, Hamlin said, “I mean how we all started this is just crazy and kind of started from a speculative article.”

“But this is just a friendship that grew from a courtside chat at the Charlotte Hornets one afternoon. So, glad to be able to be in business with him and obviously now get him his fourth win in just a little over two years.”

Furthermore, during the conversation, the interviewer urged Denny Hamlin to share an interesting story he discussed in an episode of his podcast, ‘Actions Detrimental’. Moreover, she asked what exactly the story about Michael Jordan being in a racing simulator was.

To this Hamlin replied, “Yeah, that was a whole another thing. He thought he could do what we do on a Sunday drive but he got into the Toyota simulator. It did not turn out well.”

“He started to get a little dizzy… a little sick, so he hopped out pretty quickly.”

Surprised by the fact that Jordan was unable to go through the entire Toyota simulator experience, Stroehlein told Hamlin, “Hard to humble MJ, but what you said you succeeded there.”

And proudly admitting his achievement of humbling his friend and one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Hamlin stated with a beaming smile, “We’ve successfully, successfully humbled Michael.”

Hamlin and Jordan’s partnership is a result of golf and a speculative news article. However, now, with 23XI Racing’s successful two-year run with four victories, it looks like the sportsmen’s leap of faith has a promising Cup future for its full-time drivers Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick.
