It seems the race fan and race historian in Dale Earnhardt Jr. can rejoice once again as the historical racetrack Nashville Fairgrounds is set to be revived back to its former glory. The renovation of the track will see it become fit once again to host NASCAR and other forms of racing.

This was something that came to be after an agreement between Bristol Motor Speedway and Nashville Metropolitan Mayor’s Office.

Once restored and back to functioning capacity, the racetrack could generate around “$200 million annually through visitor spending in hotels, restaurants and other local attractions.”

For Dale Jr., this should be a piece of welcome news considering his mission to not only bring attention to old, abandoned historic tracks, but bringing them back to life by using his platform and reach.

It’s worth mentioning at this point that Junior was a very central figure in the renovation of North Wilkesboro Speedway, something the NASCAR Hall of Famer succeeded in doing as the track hosted races in August to sold-out crowds.

In fact, the success and buzz of NWS got to the point where it earned the rights to host next season’s All-Star race.

Whether Nashville Fairgrounds will be able to host NASCAR races in the future, time will tell, the process has begun. But one thing is for sure, if they do end up landing a spot on the calendar, you can bet your money Dale Jr. will be behind the wheel as well.

Dale Earnhardt Jr claimed he’d run races every year at Nashville Fairgrounds

In an interview from last year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. candidly opened up on his love for the Nashville Fairgrounds racetrack. The JR Motorsports co-owner claimed that he’s aware of the history of the racetrack as well as his father’s history on it.

In fact, adding up all the collective historical significance this track holds in the racing and the Nashville community, it was “perplexing” to Junior that nothing was being done to revive it back to NASCAR.

But Dale Jr. also claimed that if they do end up putting the Fairgrounds back on the NASCAR calendar, he’ll race there every year until the very end of his racing career.

“If they run Xfinity Series here, I’ll be here,” Earnhardt said. “I’ll run once a year. I’ll probably do that as long as I can and there should be a few more years of that.”
