Before hosting ESPY awards in 2018, NASCAR driver Danica Patrick appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. And during her conversation with Kimmel, Patrick revealed about making her first public appearance with Aaron Rodgers on the ESPY red carpet. After all, the awards must hold a special place in Patrick and Rodgers’ hearts.

In May 2018, Patrick revealed why the awards were so special for the couple. In her interview with Jenny McCarthy on the SiriusXM radio show, she said, “We met at the ESPYs in 2012. We both remember meeting each other, it was quick. I got his email address, and I remember thinking to myself, ‘Oh, not a phone number? Just an email address?’”

But in 2018, Patrick was going to attend the award show with Rodgers. However, apart from that, Patrick asked Kimmel if he could share some hosting advice. To this, Kimmel replied that making fun of the athletes is the best way to go about it.

And with his piece of advice, Kimmel asked Patrick if she’ll be up for poking fun at her boyfriend on live television. To this, the Xfinity driver simply replied, “Absolutely not. (laughs) I don’t know. You’ll have to see.”

Disapproving Patrick’s answer, Jimmy Kimmel said that she’ll make a mistake if she didn’t make fun of her boyfriend. And pretending to understand his bizarre explanations, Patrick nodded and said, “You gotta call out the elephant in the room? Or the hot guy in the room, I should say.”

After Jimmy Kimmel’s advice about targeting athletes, Danica Patrick realized that she was seeking advice from the wrong person. As soon as Kimmel said that making fun of the athletes is the best way to go about hosting the ESPY, Patrick asked, “Is it?”

Further, she shared the other pieces of advice she received from different hosts. She said, “’cause they keep saying, Athletes are really uptight, they don’t really like…”
