At the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Dale Earnhardt Jr was undoubtedly to be the star of the show. However, Red Farmer did not plan to pay attention to that fact.

In fact, when he spoke to NASCAR before the ceremony, he planned to make his speech as funny as he possibly could.

As one of the original members of the ‘Alabama Gang’, Farmer has many stories revolving around his career.

He quipped, “They’re going to have to give me about half an hour. I told them, ‘Hey, I’ve got 75 years of bulls*** I’ve got to tell’. I can’t get up there and do it in five or six minutes. I’ve got too many people to thank. I’ve got too many great stories to tell.”

Back in 1998, NASCAR decided to reveal the sport’s top 50 drivers ahead of its 50th anniversary. When Farmer browsed the list, he came to a very interesting conclusion and common link. Apparently, he competed against at least 49 of them, with only Red Byron being the exception.

It is also worth mentioning that in 1993, Farmer had a lucky escape. Around that time, he was involved in a helicopter crash, which also claimed the life of Davey Allison. As it turns out, the two were traveling to the Talladega Superspeedway to watch David Bonnett in a practice session. Of course, Farmer didn’t come out unscathed from the accident. Apparently, he suffered from a broken collarbone and fractured ribs.
