Mac and Cheese is perhaps one of the most sought-after comfort foods in the US. The luscious melange of al dente macaroni and a mixture of gooey cheese, topped with some crispy bacon, is something that would make anyone salivate. However, what would happen if someone tried to mess with this iconic dish?

For example, let’s imagine a deconstructed version of America’s favorite food. What if the restaurants start serving boiled macaroni and a handful of cheese on top of it, without any seasoning or bacon? Would it still be Mac and Cheese? Unfortunately, NASCAR CARS Tour’s executive director Kip Childress was flabbergasted by what Texas Roadhouse served him.

Meddling with his Mac and Cheese is a big no-no for Kip Childress

There are various versions of Mac and Cheese all over the internet. Some include cooking the macaroni in the cheese sauce, whereas some other recipes suggest that the home cooks prepare the macaroni and the cheese sauce separately, and then mix them all together. Although the methods are different, the goal is the same.

The bottom line of all the recipes is the macaroni has to be mixed in with the cheese. The flavor of cheddar cheese has to tingle the taste buds with every bite. And that is what Kip Childress had expected to savor when he went into Texas Roadhouse and placed the order for a bowl of his favorite Mac and Cheese.

Alas, what he received was not something he had even dreamt of in his entire life. Being a foodie and, more importantly, a Mac and Cheese lover, Childress was shocked when the eatery served him some boiled pasta and a portion of cheese on top of it.

Just the thought of mixing boiled pasta and grated cheese made Childress’ blood boil. He lost no time, clicked a picture of the disaster, and tweeted it, which in turn disappointed some of the fans.

NASCAR Fans left divided seeing Texas Roadhouse’s Mac and Cheese

Childress wrote, “Dear @TexasRoadhouse,

Apparently your version of Macaroni and Cheese is a little different than mine.

Sincerely,
Mac & Cheese Love”

Veteran spotter Brett Griffin found it funny and responded with a “😂”

But Bubba Wallace‘s spotter, Freddie Kraft saw nothing wrong with it. He said, “I dunno what you were expecting but that is quite literally Macaroni and Cheese.”

The Mohawk Foundation, a charitable trust based in Aurora, Illinois, commented, “I mean that truly is macaroni AND cheese 😂”

Veteran journalist and reporter for The Guardian Matt Weaver typed, “They certainly didn’t hide the ball”.

However, not everyone took it in good humor. Someone wrote, “I feel like a crime has been committed here.”

It’s deconstructed, macaroni, and cheese. That’s fancy cooking talk,” added another.

It is the unpredictability of the sport that probably intrigues me the most. There was a time when I knew very little about NASCAR. But after I watched the 2011 Ford 400 where Tony Stewart defeated Carl Edwards in a tie-breaker, there has been no going back for me. You'll see me writing with equal fervor about everyone else, but if I have to choose a favorite, it would be the Joe Gibbs Racing superstar, Denny Hamlin. EssentiallySports has carefully nurtured my love for motorsports and that is reflected in the articles. Although I write about anything and everything, I have a special place in my heart for the Joe Gibbs Racing speedster. On my time off, you'd probably find me at the gym or in my cosy little room, watching anime. Want to know more about me? Drop by and say hello!
