“Actually Not Racing Much” – Kyle Larson Shares Much Anticipated News Keeping The Hendrick Motorsports Ace Off The Track

Kyle Larson and his enthusiasm for racing are evident from the number of series he loves to participate in. May it be dirt racing or the season’s Cup series, Larson knows his way around them all.

However, this season, it seems like Kyle Larson would be taking a step back. In a recent conversation with Alex Weaver and Mamba Smith, the Hendrick Motorsports driver revealed that he wouldn’t be racing much this off-season.

He explained, “I am not actually racing much. I ran one race at Ventura last week.” Shocked by Larson’s answer Weaver jokingly asked if he had a temperature. To this Larson, smilingly replied, “No, I am about to have another baby. So, that’s gonna take up all the time.”

Although Larson has his third baby right on top of his priority list, it doesn’t mean he would be completely away from the track. Looks like he has a way of getting the best of both worlds. He shared, “But I am gonna run like 6 late model races. It’s all within one week.”

The 2021 Cup Series champion is extremely excited to welcome his newborn. In fact, the single race at Ventura that Larson talked about in the interview was not even a part of his schedule.

How did Kyle Larson end up racing at the Ventura Raceway?

The 81st Turkey Night Grand Prix was held at California’s Ventura Raceway on November 26, 2022. Kyle Larson, who clinched victory in 2012, 2016, and 2019 Turkey Night was initially not expected to participate in it. Since his wife Katelyn is expecting the couple’s third child, Larson decided to take off time to be with his family.

However, while watching his past races on Thanksgiving, Larson asked his car owner Chad Boat if he could pull a last-minute entry in the race.

Although Larson did not win the race, he was merely 1.367 seconds behind the winner, Justin Grant. While talking about his on-track performance, Larson said, “I just ran really, really hard there, and knew I was running out of time, so I had to go. I made some pretty crazy and dumb moves, but I got to second and was hoping we could get a caution to get racing with Justin there.”
