Starting out on the NASCAR circuit in 1991, the Joe Gibbs Racing team is run by former professional football coach, Joe Gibbs. Fielding four cars full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series and three cars in the Xfinity Series, JGR has completed over 2000 races in NASCAR. Boasting 5 Cup Series and 4 Xfinity Series driver championships titles to their name, Joe Gibbs and his team have always been at the center stage of attention. What Changes Will HBSE Bring About in Joe Gibbs Racing?

JGR owner Joe Gibbs kicked up a storm in the NASCAR world, selling a minority stake in his team to Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. The JGR team in the press release said that the decision was undertaken to support Joe Gibbs’s vision of growth in his organization. Skeptics were left wondering if this was the right path for Joe Gibbs to walk on. While speculations were afloat of all the changes that could be brought about by HBSE’s involvement, JGR President Dave Alpern cleared the air.

Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s Dave Moody, Alpern gave a deeper insight into what role HBSE would play at JGR’s table.

Giving assurance that everything would be pretty much the same, Alpern said, “They are betting on us to succeed. They have a vested interest in us continuing to win at the pace that we are winning. Where they’re going to help us are in the areas that they’re great at. Sponsorship has to monetize a sports franchise, and then again, from social media to all the things that I think we really do well, we can do better as they evolve into the future.”

The JGR President further added, “So they are gonna sit at the table and say, “You guys handle the racing part, you’ve got all the people. We are gonna help you in the other areas”…Our names not changing, its Joe Gibbs Racing, votes at Joe Gibbs Racing will probably go pretty similar to how they have gone for 30 years…Nothing in that area is gonna change.”
