Earlier, she had already stated how she was led over by broken promises at Toyota over the duration of her stint with the team.
What did Hailie Deegan say about prejudices of the motor sporting world?
Talking on UNLEASHED Podcast, Deegan mentioned, “maybe there is some things that I do get treated maybe a little bit different, as a girl. Even with crew guys like I feel like sometimes it’s hard to get them to believe in me. And I feel like that’s been a big struggle ever since like now realizing going back like, I got lucky those first couple of years at Toyota. That the crew chiefs I did have believed in me.”
She then went on to mention how she did not realize how big of a deal that recognition was. Deegan then further explained, “there was a time where like, I feel like I didn’t have necessarily the whole structure that did believe in me, and I feel like it affected my results a lot.”
“So now I feel like this year I am really in a place where, like, I have people who believe in me.”
Prior to this interview, Deegan had already revealed one of her main reasons to consider moving out of Toyota. She then set out to look for a manufacturer who would actually believe in her abilities as a driver.

Hailie Deegan’s exit was because of broken promises at Toyota
Around last season, Deegan took the time to elaborate on how she was promised several things while with TRD. However, as time went on, things started to get clear. During a podcast with David Gilliland, she revealed that her father was well-connected with Ford. Hence, it was apparently a “no-brainer” for her to move into a team that would support her better.

She also stated how they would ask her to achieve certain goals and only then would they deliver on those promises made. However, after a point of time, she realized that things were not going anywhere. She concluded her argument by stating that she was promised a lot of things, but “didn’t receive” any of those.
