The NASCAR veteran wants to fulfill his lifelong dream of purchasing a saltwater fishing boat. While he kept postponing it due to racing commitments, Truex’s love for the sea and childhood memories of his father’s clamming boat finally led him to this moment.

Although Truex Jr. humorously suggests his inclination to sizzle the lobster on a grill, creating a sumptuous feast of epic proportions, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver doesn’t plan to catch any Crustacea on his future boat.

During the post-race interview, Truex was asked about his latest catch. “You caught the lobster first and then got the boat?” asked a reporter.

“Well, yes, but I won’t fish for lobster on my boat. I’ll fish for fish. Tuna. Catch tuna, not lobster. I don’t know. It’s a long-winded question, but I just don’t know what to do,” Truex answered.

Balancing his racing career with personal aspirations, Truex wants to embrace the tranquility and excitement of the open waters. While he has not decided on which boat he wants to buy, Truex has very well made up his mind about what he will be catching with it.
