However, it is worth mentioning that this particular win had another significance for the Kaulig Racing driver. To be precise, he managed to break the record for the most road course wins, for which he was tied with Jeff Gordon.

Up until now, the two had been tied on nine wins across all three series. All of that changed at Portland when Allmendinger braved the rain to snatch his 10th career road course win. It does puts into perspective who the real ‘King of the Road Course’ is.

Of course, in the Cup Series, Chase Elliott has amassed seven wins, while Allmendinger only has two Cup wins.

However, most of the Kaulig Racing driver’s wins came in the Xfinity Arena. One thing is for sure, it would really help his championship chances.

What is next for AJ Allmendinger in NASCAR?

Interestingly, the driver not only ran in the Xfinity race but is expected to run in the Cup race. Under normal circumstances, this would not be an issue. However, the NASCAR Xfinity race was at Portland, and the Cup race is at the World Wide Technology Raceway. So he would have to travel nearly 2000 miles to make it in time for the race at the WWT Raceway.

He said, “I’m looking forward to pulling some double duty and getting to drive the Cup car at Gateway (WWTR) on Sunday. I have never driven at Gateway and will miss practice and qualifying, but I know we are up for the challenge the weekend will bring.”
