Kyle Busch certainly wasn’t a happy man after the race in Las Vegas. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver had some pretty strong words for the race winner Alex Bowman, who was probably a vehicle for Busch’s frustration on how the race unfolded in the closing stages.

After the checkered flag waved, Busch said of Bowman on his radio, “The same f***ing guy who backs into every f***ing win that he ever f***ing gets, backs into another f***ing win. Bull shit!”

Busch, who was already running with a backup car, saw glimpses of the victory lane in the closing stages.

However, with three laps to go, a well-earned lead over his JGR teammate Martin Truex Jr was rendered useless because of a caution that forced the race into overtime and cars heading to the pits.

In the last two laps of the day, the JGR driver raced alongside Ross Chastain while also hunting for a late move to spring in front of Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman.

Achingly for Busch, that one opportunity simply didn’t come. The two Hendrick cars engaged in a battle of their own, leaving Busch a mere spectator for a finish in fourth place in his home race.

“Luck just wasn’t on our side” – Kyle Busch

After the race, Kyle Busch thanked his team for the overnight work they did in getting the backup car ready.

“Just a great effort by everybody at Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing for all the hard work and my guys on the 18 team and also the 11, 19 and 20,” Busch said.

“They just did a really good job of getting us here today. We had no choice, we had to be here, but they worked really hard all night long and put in a lot of hours so that was good and to have the opportunity to go out and race for a win, that was really good, too.”
