Jimmie Johnson is counting the days as his storied spell in NASCAR comes to a close. The 7-time champion could potentially race for the last time when everyone takes the grid at Daytona. In light of this, Ally Racing is planning a special tribute from the fans to the #48 driver.

Ahead of the Dover double-header, Johnson 25 points away from a playoff berth, has a chance of sneaking in. However, he may not want to hold his breath. Irrespective of his prospects in the playoffs, the fans still adore him, and Ally Racing wants to give them an outlet.

Fans will be granted an opportunity to send in their signatures to have them emblazoned on the car. However, there are only a handful of slots that are available, so they’ll have to be really quick about it.

Truthfully, Jimmie Johnson has a tough task ahead of him, but a driver of his caliber can turn is well known for turning in excellent performances. The #48 driver has a great chance of scoring big points at Dover, as he is starting from 6th. However, his teammate and playoff rival, William Byron, starts two places behind him.

Byron is a quick driver and could provide a stiff challenge to Johnson. Therefore, the 44-year-old will be eager to make the most of his high position and score some big points to close the gap to Byron.

His highest position was a 3rd placed finish at Bristol, and he recently finished 4th at the Daytona Road Course. Unfortunately, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to pull out of the Indianapolis race.

That put a massive dent to his hopes of closing the gap to Byron and qualifying for the playoffs. Despite this, Johnson is determined to finish his final full-time season on a high note.
