Austin Cindric Fights Weather, Cautions and His ‘Own Eye’ to Win at Road America

Austin Cindric showed his class yet again to win his fourth race in five attempts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday.
Racing at Road America, Cindric fought through numerous caution flags to win the race.
“This is a special race track to any racer. You hear guys talk about it being the most complete race track in the world,” Cindric said in a media interaction after the race.

Importance of Road America
“The fans that come out to this place whether there’s a pandemic or not. It’s such a great atmosphere Its a family atmosphere. Makes you want to do even more as a driver,” he added.

“It challenges you in every type of way. It also feels awesome to be able to win on all three of the natural road courses on the Xfinity Series schedule. Watkins Glen, Ohio, and Road America are all special road courses to me in different ways and I’m so proud I can drive these race cars,” Cindric further added.
Cindric waited to get rid of a lightning delay and also saw off two caution flags in the last six laps en route to his victory.

But something stuck in his eye bothered him for most of the race.
“I’m sorry if I’m blinking a lot, but I got something in my eye halfway through the race, and it hurt so bad. “I’ve been blinking like the entire last hour,” Cindric said.

“Something came in my visor or something, but it’s been stuck under my eyelid from like halfway through the race,” Cindric added.
“I’ve had tears rolling down my face the entire race. I can’t get it out. I was taking my gloves off and whatever. When you have the adrenaline, it’s not a big deal apparently. Right now, it’s driving me crazy,” he further said.
Cindric has been in great form and solidified his position in the Xfinity Series points standings.

“When it comes to me, that’s my job, to do the best with the tools that I have, and I feel like from the start of this year, I’ve been getting the most out of the cars I’ve been driving. It’s gratifying to see that come with results,” Cindric expressed.
