When Austin Dillon won the 2018 Daytona 500, he and the Richard Childress Racing team had an unusual celebration. Apparently, they all went and got tattoos done. Dillon himself got a tattoo on his buttocks, which was a little bit odd, but he didn’t care.

Now, the driver is preparing for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in the LMP2 class. Dillon spoke about whether he would get another tattoo if he won the endurance race in his division. He said, “If we win this weekend, I will probably get a tattoo. I feel like that would be definitely the underdog story, for sure.”

How did Austin Dillon get the tattoo?

As it turns out, the tattoo read, ‘Daytona 500 champ’. Of course, some of his Richard Childress Racing crew members also got tattoos, though the locations are still a mystery. Austin Dillon admitted that the tattoo looked ‘pretty cool’, though most could not actually see it.

On the flip side of the draw, there was the immediate aftermath of dealing with the tattoo, pain. Dillon found that out the hard way when a crew member playfully slapped him on the buttocks. Luckily, he has since recovered and the tattoo is now a permanent addition to his body.

Speaking about the Daytona win, Austin Dillon fended off attacks from Aric Almirola. Unfortunately, they collided on the final lap after Almirola attempted a block. He moved up the track to cut off the #3 car, but Dillon maintained his speed and the two clipped each other.

Now, the two drivers are looking ahead to the new NASCAR season. However, Dillon has to get the 24 Hours of Daytona out of the way first. Only then will he be able to focus on this year’s edition of the Cup Series Daytona 500.
