RFK Racing was not one of the first-stringer teams when the Cup season began. With the regular season drawing to a close in Daytona on Saturday, the team has emerged as the dark horse after winning three out of the last five races, all thanks to Chris Buescher. Brad Keselowski has not lagged far behind either, as he finished in the top five twice in those five races, including a second-place finish at Daytona behind his teammate.

If Buescher’s back-to-back wins in Richmond and Michigan were not enough to convince fans of RFK’s rise, a 1–2 finish in Daytona has certainly done the trick. People are starting to take them seriously and co-owner Brad Keselowski is threatening the duopoly of Rick Hendrick and Joe Gibbs‘s teams.

Brad Keselowski is building something at RFK that’s “Gonna Be Special”

In the post-race press conference in Daytona, Brad Keselowski was asked about his team’s impressive performance of late and while the veteran racer is happy with his team, he also stated his team’s long-term goal.

“Yeah I mean it’s hard to measure all the things that a night like today will do for us as a company but I’m sure they’re all gonna be positive and, you know, we’ll kind of work through what that means but we’re building something and that’s gonna be special for a long time and that’s a big goal,” the RFK Racing driver and co-owner said.

As Keselowski articulated a commitment to building something enduring and exceptional, laying the foundation for long-term success, he also extended his praise to teammate Chris Buescher, commending Buescher’s remarkable performance across the last five races. But his focus remained fixed on the broader objective of establishing a sustainable race team with championship-winning potential.

“I’m proud of everybody in the team and certainly Chris for his efforts but, you know, the bigger picture is to have a sustainable race team that can win for championships for a few years to come and be a perennial championship contender.

“Today was good progress for that on that front. 1-2 finishes are huge for teams and this certainly another case of that for us,” the veteran racer added, as he underscored the team’s aim to be a mainstay in the championship landscape for years to come.

It was the third win of the season so far for Chris Buescher. When the season began, the RFK Racing man might have expected to go on and achieve one race win in the regular season but he has outdone himself and with momentum and confidence on his side, he is now one of the favorites.

“We certainly got momentum on our side right now,” Buescher said after the race AP News.
