NASCAR drivers are often known for their laser-focused determination and high-speed exploits on the track. However, away from the roar of engines, many drivers reveal their human side through hobbies, community engagements, or even unexpected sports rivalries. Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski is no exception.

With more than 35 Cup Series victories, Brad is one of the best drivers in the NASCAR world. Yet, he is not just a master of the track, but also an avid football fan. He has never been shy about sharing his love for the sport, especially when it comes to his favorite team, the Detroit Lions. However, he recently found himself and his brother Brian in the centre of an NFL debate.

Brad Keselowski’s diplomatic suggestion triggers debate

Few rivalries in sports are as intense as the one between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. Rooted in the NFC North division, this matchup has a history of nail-biting games, bitter competition, and passionate fanbases. However, their Sunday clash triggered a huge debate among NASCAR and NFL fans when Brad Keselowski shared his unique perspective.

Ahead of the Packers vs Vikings game, Brad’s brother and former NASCAR driver Brian Keselowski found himself in a dilemma. Sharing the same on social media platform X he wrote, “Can I root for both Packers and Vikings to lose? Feels dirty rooting for Packers to win, so I’ll root for Vikings to lose.” However, Brad tried to be diplomatic as he responded, “I don’t want either team to lose. How about a tie?”

Despite Brad’s wish for neutrality, the game ended with the Minnesota Vikings narrowly edging out the Green Bay Packers in a 27-25 thriller. Till the third quarter, Vikings had a lead of 27-10 but a fighting comeback from the Packers made it a thriller. With this win, Vikings will now fight with Brad’s favorite NFL team Detroit Lions for the NFC No. 1 seed and NFC North Crown.

It’s worth noting that Brad is a devoted Lions fan and has supported them very passionately for years. He often expresses admiration not just for their on-field efforts but also for their impact on Detroit’s community and legacy. Once in 2012 he even made a playful promise to Lions wide receiver Golden Tate, offering to request a Ford Mustang GT for him if the Lions won the Super Bowl. While the Lions have yet to claim the ultimate prize, Brad’s unwavering support remains a testament to his loyalty.

Apart from these off-track moments, Brad Keselowski is currently preparing for the upcoming NASCAR season. The RFK racing co-owner will need to focus on the team’s performance as they decide to expand their charters.

RFK Racing looks to dominate NASCAR

In 2024, RFK Racing had an average season. Brad Keselowski’s win in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway earned him a playoff berth. Notably, Keselowski finished his season with 2208 points in 13th position. However, his teammate Chris Buescher failed to make it to the playoffs he won at Watkins Glen.

Despite this, RFK Racing is set to expand in 2025 with the addition of a third full-time car. The No.60 Ford Mustang will be driven by Ryan Preece. This move aligns with Keselowski’s long-term vision of growth and innovation for the team. With their partnership with Rick Ware Racing, which has provided vital resources, RFK Racing has demonstrated significant improvement over the past two seasons. Keselowski believes the time is right to grow while maintaining the performance of the existing teams.

“If you’re not growing, you’re dying in this sport, and we’re growing. We’re adding people, adding teams, making key investments. It’s an exciting time for me. You know, ’23 versus ’24 looks really similar, but I’m keen to say that ’25 should be a step up for us,” Keselowski had told NASCAR.com.

Notably, since joining the RFK racing, Keselowski has made several changes in the organization. Under his guidance team has qualified for playoffs in the last two seasons with six wins since 2022. However, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion wants to improve their win percentage in upcoming seasons.
