Recently, many NASCAR fans questioned the decision of sanctioning Noah Gragson for his intentional wreck of Brandon Brown, calling it too harsh. But Brown feels it wasn’t enough. He feels Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NASCAR are not being good leaders.

In a recent interview, Brown spoke about the incident and the aftermath of the incident, including the consequences that Gragson now has to deal with.

Brown claimed that NASCAR didn’t want to do anything “until it got pretty big on social media”, but at the same time, since they are the sanctioning body, the “parents” of the drivers, they had to do something.

The Xfinity Series driver revealed that Gragson had “reached out” to him and apologized. But if he zooms out and looks at the whole thing from a macro-level, it wasn’t enough.

“Everybody’s pretty much sugarcoated what he’s done. He’s getting a little bit of a slap on the wrist for it,” Brown added.

“It comes down to NASCAR’s leadership and Junior Motorsports’ leadership,” Brown said. “It’s upto Noah’s team leadership to help him mature because obviously, he is not maturing as fast as need be.”

He added that if they accept the kind of driving that was on display at Road America from Gragson, and if they’re upset about it, then they needed to do something more.

“Because a team like mine…we struggle,” he reasoned. “We don’t have a lot of resources.”
