This NASCAR season, the Coronavirus has forced some drastic changes to the race format. To be precise, the sport has elected to eliminate practice and qualifying sessions. With the paddock heading to the Daytona International road course, practice and qualifying could be crucial to learn about the track. However, Brandon Jones and Noah Gragson have a different take on the situation.

According to Jones, not many things would have changed with the presence of practice or qualifying. Though he did admit to Fox Sports, that some drivers may take the time to fine-tune their cars and setups. On the other hand, he suggested that everybody elected to rely on their simulators for data.

He also disclosed that some drivers often visit karting tracks to get in some practice. Meanwhile, with some practice or qualifying, all of them would have been a little faster.

Brandon Jones was not the only one who felt that way?

Aside from Jones, Noah Gragson also voiced a similar opinion and admitted that abolishing practice was a good idea. At the end of the day, this is all about who can go the fastest and get a feel of the track, the fastest. Gragson said, “You go as slow as you need to go, until you figure it out.”

Gragson mused that practice merely separates the good drivers from the average drivers. He also believes that this kind of situation brings the front of the field closer to the rear.

Gragson confessed that he always dreamed of racing in the Xfinity series and running on road courses. Now, he is finally able to live out both dreams, and there is a possibility that the next dream is to win on a road course.

While Austin Cindric won the race in a comfortable manner, Jones finished 2nd and Gragson finished 3rd.
