With the 2022 NASCAR Cup season steadily winding down, some are looking ahead to the future. To be precise, there are now talks about teams expanding or new teams trying to enter the fray. Some of the interested parties include Denny Hamlin, who is seeking an extra charter for 23XI Racing. There is also Dale Earnhardt Jr, who would love to get JR Motorsports promoted to the Cup arena. In light of this, NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin spoke about the situation.
He said, “I think there’s two to three charters that are being available to buy. I don’t think I should say who, but I know there’s two and potentially three. But I also know there’s more than three people, organisations that want a charter. Well, Dale Jr, we know he wants a charter. We know Denny wants one. I promise you, Matt Kaulig wants to buy one because Matt Kaulig is Matt Kaulig. Awesome people to work for and very aggressive businessman. If he had a charter to buy, he’d buy it.”

What next in the 2023 NASCAR jigsaw puzzle?
Currently, the biggest piece that is waiting to be put in place is Kyle Busch. After Mars announced their departure at the end of the season, it placed Busch’s career in jeopardy. Without a doubt, Joe Gibbs Racing still wants him on their team and piloting the #18 car. However, the biggest stumbling block is finding a sponsor to back him.

There were suggestions like Stewart-Haas Racing, as they can afford to recruit him. Other than that, the only realistic option is for Busch to really dig deep and try harder to hunt for a sponsor. Without a doubt, he is a talented driver and it would be a shame to see a racer of his caliber without a drive.
