For the fourth consecutive race, Kurt Busch will be out of action because of his accident. Of course, this is no skin off of Ty Gibbs’ nose. He is only too happy to try and gain more experience and better his chances of entering the Cup Series full-time. Of course, Busch will be working hard to try and recover fully and make it back in time for the Playoffs. However, NASCAR spotter Brett Griffin aired a few concerns.

He said, “If I’m his doctor, I’m gonna write him out through to the end of Daytona because, obviously, you want him to heal. We also know that these race car drivers are not normal. There are guys, including my friend Kasey Kahne, that I do not think should still be racing and they’re still racing. Should Dale Jr. still be racing?”

“I don’t know. He suffered a lot of concussions. He obviously is hand-picking which races he’s going to. But I’m not going to lie to you.”

“When he gets in a car, I get nervous. Cause we know he’s had a lot of concussions, he suffered a lot of issues, he missed races.”

What else did Griffin say about 23XI Racing driver Kurt Busch?

Brett Griffin acknowledged he cannot make an accurate assessment of Busch’s overall health. The biggest question surrounding the #45 driver is whether he will be back in time for the Playoffs. If he is, then will he still be competitive during them and what does this mean for his future? Of course, there is the age factor, as the 2004 Cup Series champion is in his early 40s.

The concern is that, is the concussion and the prolonged absence a warning sign that it is time for him to hang up his boots? Admittedly, the late 2010s and early 2020s are already heralding the start of phasing out the veteran motorsport stars.

This includes the likes of Valentino Rossi, Sebastian Vettel, Jorge Lorenzo, Kimi Raikkonen, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jeff Gordon, and many more. So, will Kurt Busch be the next one on the list and when will he call it quits?
