NASCAR races are dynamic. One moment they’re doing great, the next moment—a complete disaster! We have seen it time and again and while hard work does pay off, sometimes all one needs is a dash of “luck” to make it to the victory line. The recent Buescher and Larson controversy in Kansas is a prime example, where Buescher lost by a mere 0.001 seconds!

But seems like we even have CARS Tour driver Landon Huffman who has been grappling with poor luck! His response to Freddie Kraft’s Twitter post celebrating Butterbean’s win clearly suggests so.

A fun twitter post and the stark reality!

Butterbean aka Brenden Queen, performed stellar in his recent race. During the recent Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice session at North Wilkesboro Speedway—he made a significant impact. Queen demonstrated his potential by setting the fastest lap during the session, as he gets ready for his NASCAR National series debut in the Wright Brand 250 on Saturday. His lap time was 17.911 seconds, and he reached a speed of 125.621 mph.

After the race, Queen shared his stellar performance on Twitter with the caption “I’m speechless. First time in the car and we ended practice top of the board.” And Freddie Kraft, just in a funny banter, reposted the picture and wrote, “Come on DBC and good things happen. He was talking about the fun time Queen spent with the DBC team recently talking about his debut race. Little did he know that someone would take his words as gospel!

Because Landon Huffman commented, “Lord have mercy please get me on this show then.” Kraft responded with a dose of reality, jokingly killing Huffman’s hopes by saying, “Listen, we’re not miracle workers.” And rightly so, because just going to a show, even getting some advice, doesn’t help anybody. Moreover, Brenden Queen worked hard to reach where he is currently.

But maybe Huffman just needed some “hope” to do better after being discouraged after his recent freak incident with an underage driver. One that could have been life-threatening!

Landon Huffman’s dangerous bout with an underage NASCAR driver

Landon Huffman, through his comment, seemed discouraged about his latest loss. He was battling for the lead when an underage racer violently pushed Huffman’s car to the wall. And it put him in a dangerous spot, as even the car’s roof came out due to the impact! He didn’t hesitate to express his distaste for underage drivers in NASCAR. He said, “Led over half of the second twin and then this. Exhibit A why kids under the age of 14 should not be driving late model stock cars”.

The NASCAR community is now divided between those who support such underage children joining the race and some who don’t. For example, last year, Tony Stewart was baffled at some racing series picking up kids aged 12-14. But one might argue what about Joey Lagano he entered at 18 and got his first win at 19. Well not everyone is a Lagano and sometimes underage kids at a dangerous sport like this can cause a mess so big that can even cost one their life.

So while we understand Huffman’s sentiment, sometimes things just happen. All we can do is move forward and there are many more such opportunities coming where he can show his talents. And his luck can shine without having to go on any show!
